The information introduced by the user in relation to possible new biocidal active substances will be treated securely and confidentially. No technical data provided by the user, neither the reports and/or predictions generated by the COMBASE Webtool is stored on the server.
1. On the registries included in the ecotoxicological data base of biocidal active substances and their corresponding metabolites.
Some of the data contained on the database have been extracted from the Assessment Reports detailing the conclusions of the Standing Committee on Biocidal Products accessible from ECHA’s website, as such, reference is made to the ECHA’s LEGAL NOTICE (http://echa.europa.eu/web/guest/legal-notice) according to which the information, documents and data made available on the ECHA website may be reproduced, distributed and/or used, totally or in part, for non-commercial purposes provided that ECHA is acknowledged as the source: "Source: European Chemicals Agency, (http://echa.europa.eu)”.
This implies that when “Assessment Report” is indicated as a source of information, the ECHA is referred and such data are to be treated in agreement with the terms established by such entity.
2. On the predicted ecotoxicological effects of the biocidal active substance.
All models developed within LIFE-COMBASE are implemented in VEGA (https://www.vegahub.eu). For ecotoxicological effects prediction COMBASE Webtool uses a reduced version of the VEGA software containing models specifically addressing: fish acute toxicity, Daphnia acute toxicity, algae acute toxicity and microorganisms’ acute toxicity. The complete references and specifications of the models are available in VEGA whereas COMBASE Webtool provides a shortened report for a preliminary screening that is not suitable to be used for regulatory purposes. The user is directed to VEGA for the use of in silico predictions with regulatory purposes and, particularly, for dossier compilation for new substances approval.
3. On the alternative biocidal substances
The software for the suggestion of new biocidal active substances with a decreased environmental impact is based on virtual combinatory chemistry and was originally programmed by ProtoQSAR.
